Villamartín grew up around the golf course, one of the oldest on the Costa Blanca, and it has aged into one of the most settled parts of the Orihuela Costa. The housing stock is mostly detached villas, bungalows and townhouses on generous plots, and the population skews permanent, older and long-established British and Irish. Villamartín Plaza is the social centre of the whole area.
Practically, that means bigger properties and bigger jobs than the coastal apartments. A typical Villamartín booking is not one rug. It is a three or four bedroom house with four mattresses, two sofas, several rugs and a covered terrace with outdoor furniture, done in one visit over most of a day.
It also means terraces and outdoor living space matter here far more than in an apartment. Rattan and fabric outdoor furniture on the Costa Blanca has a hard life: UV, calima dust, pool splash-back and winter damp. Steam cleaning brings it back without the pressure washing that destroys the weave, and we price it from €60 for a terrace set.
An unglamorous but very real Villamartín problem. Golf shoes and trolley wheels carry a specific mix onto interior floors: fine dry course sand from the bunkers, bentgrass clippings, and the fertiliser and iron sulphate used on Spanish course greens through the summer. Iron sulphate is the one that causes trouble — it oxidises and leaves rust-coloured marks on pale carpet and stone that ordinary cleaning does not lift, and that get worse if treated with the wrong product.
If you play regularly and you have light carpet or a light rug in the hallway, this is almost certainly what the discolouration by the door is. It is treatable, but it needs the right chemistry rather than more scrubbing.
Most Villamartín households book us in one of two ways. Either a regular cleaner — weekly or fortnightly, €18 an hour, three-hour minimum, same person every time — or a scheduled twice-yearly deep clean, usually before family arrive in spring and again after the summer.
The second pattern works well here because Villamartín properties are large enough that a proper deep clean is a full-day job with two cleaners, and doing it on a schedule stops the gradual build-up that makes the job harder and more expensive each time.

Yes, from 60 euros for a terrace set. We steam clean rattan and fabric outdoor furniture rather than pressure washing it, because pressure washing forces water into the weave and breaks down the fibres over time.
A three-bedroom villa is typically seven to eight hours with two cleaners, from 195 euros. Four bedrooms and above we quote individually after a few photos on WhatsApp.
If you play golf, it is very likely iron sulphate from the course greens, walked in on shoes and trolley wheels. It oxidises in the fibre and gets worse with the wrong product. It is treatable but it needs specific chemistry, so do not attack it with a supermarket stain remover first.
