We use commercial steam on every job, paired with pH-neutral, plant-derived, non-toxic products. That is a deliberate choice about how the work gets done rather than a label on a bottle.
Steam at commercial temperature sanitises on contact. It kills dust mites, bacteria and mould spores, breaks down grease at a molecular level, and lifts soil out of grout, tile, shower screens and hard floors without anybody scrubbing bleach into a surface. On soft furnishings it does the same job without soaking them.
What it means in practice is that we do not need chlorine, ammonia or solvent-based cleaners to get a property genuinely clean. So there is no bleach smell when we leave, no chemical film on worktops, nothing that needs airing off before children or pets can use the room, and nothing that irritates asthma. If somebody in the house has a respiratory condition — and a lot of people who move out here do — this is not a nicety, it is the whole point.
It also handles the specifically Spanish problems well. Hard-water limescale on shower screens and taps, which is severe in Torrevieja at 42 to 50 French degrees of hardness. Grease film on kitchen tiles from cooking with olive oil at heat. Mould in bathroom grout in properties that are shut up over winter.
